Firms 'to spend more' on online marketing

3rd February 2012

The majority of UK businesses plan to increase their investments in online marketing this year, new research shows.

According to survey results from Econsultancy and Experian Marketing Services, 68% of firms intend to raise the amount they spend on digital marketing in 2012.

In comparison, the Marketing Budgets 2012 Report also reveals that only 16% of companies plan to spend more on traditional, offline methods of marketing over the coming months.

The overall marketing budgets of 45% of businesses will be expanded this year, the research additionally highlighted.

Commenting on the findings, Linus Gregoriadis, research director at Econsultancy, said that the importance of the growing digital economy has already been "well documented".

He added_ "Companies are demonstrating their commitment to online marketing channels and the technology required to make their campaigns as effective as possible."
